Telangana Elections Latest News 2018

Telangana, India’s youngest state goes to election on December 7, 2018. 1,821 candidates will be battling for 119 assembly seats. The state was slated to go to the polls in 2019 along with the lok sabha elections. But Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao dissolved the assembly on September 6. A few hours after dissolving the assembly, KCR announced about 105 candidates for the 119 seats in the state. This gave the Telangana Rashtra Samiti a head start. However, media reports suggested that Telangana Rashtra Samiti candidates faced opposition mainly because of the KCR government’s failure to fulfill poll promises. Prominent among them were the double bedroom scheme for the homeless and mission Bhagiratha which promised piped drinking water to every household in Telangana.
